Safety Coordinator - Kitimat, BC

The Health & Safety Coordinator will work closely with Managers, Supervisors and individual employees to promote occupational health and safety throughout the organization to develop safer, healthier and more efficient methods of working. This involves maintaining health and safety systems, identifying hazards, and providing advice and support on accident prevention and occupational health. This individual is responsible for supporting the analysis of health and safety reporting, trend analysis, and making recommendations on preventative and/or corrective measures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • The Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the following:
  • Risk assessments and determining how risks can be reduced;
  • Inputting and maintaining the accuracy of all data in ISNET World

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Understanding and interpreting Blueprints and drawings

  • Work independently with minimal supervision and work well with others

Millwright - Terrace, BC

Looking for experienced Red-Seal Millwrights

Need Immediately.

You will be required, to safely perform quality work, provide support services, and perform preventative maintenance processes that pertain to the optimum mechanical performance of the sawmill including, but not limited to:

  • Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems
  • Repair or replacement of Mechanical Components & Machinery
  • Rigging and Slinging
  • Troubleshooting Mechanical Machinery
  • Welding capabilities

     

    Required Skills

    • Must have a thorough working knowledge of mechanical operations used in the industry. Must show knowledge of mechanical repairs, welding, and hydraulics, good manual dexterity, versatility, good physical endurance. Strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Must have a working knowledge relate to the proper alignment of bearings, repairing or replacing chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools necessary for the day to day functioning of the millwright position.
    • Must have the ability to work in a team environment have good work habits and solid attendance history.
    • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job including standing, climbing, bending, and lifting occasionally up to 50 lbs or more.

    Required Experience

    • Relevant training and experience as a Red-Seal Millwright/Industrial Mechanic. 10 or more years of relevant experience is preferred.

    Journeyman Ironworker

    Wanted – Industrial Journeyman Iron Worker min $40/hr starting wage 

    This position will fabricate, construct and join scaffolding, structural steel buildings, bridges, ornamental ironwork, and pre-cast structures. 

    They erect structural steel components, reinforcing steel, post-tension tendons, install conveyors and robotic equipment, and sometimes perform reconstructive work on existing structures. 

    May include the following responsibilities: 

    • Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work
    • Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
    • Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment
    • Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials
    • Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
    • Position steel units align holes and insert temporary bolts
    • Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process
    • Assemble and erectpre-fabricatedmetal structures 
    • Select, cut, bend, position, and secure steel bars or wire mesh in concrete forms to reinforce the concrete
    • Install ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors

    Umbrella Welding & Mechanical is looking to add a Draftsman/Steel Detailer to join our growing and dynamic team, based out of our Vancouver Island Division located in Chemainus, BC 

    Wage to be determined upon hire 

    Responsibilities 

    • Produce detailed shop and erection drawings for miscellaneous structural, transportation, marine, mining and utilities, as well as architectural steel products required for the construction of residential and commercial projects. 
    • Ensure final drawings and documents meet the requirements of the project specifications, contract drawings, and clients’ needs, as well as the company’s standards and all fabrication limitations. 
    • Be required to have communication between other Draftsman, Project Managers, Fabrication Staff, Installation Crew as well as various construction and engineering companies. 
    • Estimate costs and materials; Develop and prepare design 

    Requirements – Experience 

    • Detailers (minimum of 2 years or steel industry experience).

    Heavy Duty Mechanic

    Overview of the Position: 

    We are searching for a qualified and ambitious individual to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment in a mine environment in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. 

    The Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, overhauling and maintenance of complex heavy-duty mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of equipment and trucks; adjusting equipment and repairing/replacing defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools. You will also be responsible for service documentation when necessary 

    Requirements and Experience: 

    • To be qualified, all applicants must have 5+ years of experience with repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment. 
    • Red Seal or Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman Ticket is required. 
    • The ideal candidate will have highly developed mechanical background knowledge, particularly with various engines. 
    • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment. 
    • Skill in diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required. 
    • Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams. 
    • Owning tools applicable to the position is an asset.
